Bringing old crosswords back

Most old crosswords survive only on paper, or as page scans in digital library archives: you can look at them, but not search or study them. We're turning them into xd files, an open text format, so they can join a research archive of crosswords and be discoverable again.

Have a Claude account? Ever have usage left over at the end of the week?

OCR built for this project has made a first draft of every puzzle. Volunteers contribute to the project by directing their Claude to check each draft against the scan, square by square and clue by clue. It takes around 80k tokens to review a single puzzle. How much you contribute is up to you.
